Nielsen Book supports Libraries Week
Nielsen Book has been at the heart of the book industry for more than 100 years and we work with libraries all over the world. We are delighted to sponsor Libraries Week for the fourth year running and show our support to this vital sector.
Nielsen Book is once again delighted to be supporting this year’s Libraries Week, celebrating the nation’s much-loved libraries and your central role in supporting active and engaged communities.
We offer a unique range of services for libraries, from search and selection solutions to providing MARC records for cataloguing and enriched data for your catalogue. We provide our library clients with a consistent and reliable source of up to date, harmonised and enriched English-language book metadata.
We are therefore perfectly placed to help libraries to support your communities. Some of the ways we can help you do this are:
- Supplying data to support your Click and Collect services.
- Increasing the breadth of your title coverage to fulfil the needs of your whole community.
- Providing ‘look inside’ content for over 74.5k titles across your social media platforms.

Become a Data-Driven Librarian
Take part in our new CILIP recognised course on Data-Driven Librarianship, powered by Nielsen Book.
Learn how to harness the power of data in this short course, including 3 webinars, run by the experts at Nielsen Book on discovery and research with further resources and exercises to complete in your own time, to help you become a #DataDrivenLibrarian.
This course will help you to develop a greater understanding of metadata and the data elements available to libraries to better understand your users and inform your decision-making on buying and stock selection. Get to know book market trends to help you better cater to your readers, gain an understanding of thema, how it relates to libraries and how to use it in stock selection. And LibScan participants will learn how to access a wealth of information on your loans and those across the UK through some basic reports.
Nielsen LibScan is FREE to join and in exchange for providing us with your borrowing data we will give you access to national lending data collected from public libraries across the UK. Participating libraries use this data to monitor trends, inform their stock selection and understand their library users better.
